Waiting For Apple iPhone 13: What We Know so Far?
For all those who are waiting for Apple iPhone’s new model, here is good news. The iPhone 13 series is expected to release in September 2021. Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) recently certified the iPhone 13 series and has revealed 7 models. The model numbers listed are A2628, A2630, A2634, A2635, A2640, A2643, and A2645, as per Consomac, a French website that has spotted these first. It was also mentioned that all the phones are running on iOS 14. Models are not mentioned as the model numbers don’t indicate the model name. however, rumors suggest Apple will unveil four iPhones in 2021 with improved camera, faster chips, a smaller notch, and possibly under-display Touch ID.
Rumors about iPhone 13 lineup
Apple will come up with four iPhones in the year 2021, with no changes to the sizes. So, we can expect the size of the new models to be a 5.4-inch mini, a 6.1 inch iPhone, a 6.1 inch pro-model, and a 6.7 inch Pro Max model.
According to a Digitimes report, Apple will reduce the dimensions of the Face ID chip by 40%. So, the Face ID system will be smaller than the one used in the existing iPhone 12 lineup. Unless it can pack all the sensors for Face ID into a smaller space, then the notch size is unlikely to change.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is not going to transition the iPhone from Lightning to USB-C. Kuo has recently mentioned that Apple is reluctant to shift to USB-C as it is an open standard and less waterproof than Lightning. Apple might systematize the quality of Lightning cables and accessories through the Made for iPhone program.
The Pro models in the iPhone 13 series can come up with 120 Hz LTPO OLED panels that will be easily switching from lower to higher refresh rates when content supports it. The regular model is expected to stick to 60Hz panels. Samsung, as well as LG, have begun mass-producing OLED panels for the upcoming Apple iPhone 3 series.
5G chip and WiFi 6E
According to the rumors, iPhone 3 series will feature single 5G band support, working on mmWave or sub-6GHZ networks. It is also expected that Apple’s shipments of mmWave iPhones will increase significantly in the year 2021. More than 50 % of total iPhone 13 models are expected to support mmWave technology. Barclays analysts believe that iPhone 13 models will support WiFi 6E.
The iPhone 13 series phones are expected to sport new ultra-wide-angle camera sensors in the rear camera. The new lenses can be f/1.8 optics and the Pro models are rumored to sensor-shift stabilization. The phones are expected to have better stabilization and hence overall better pictures. Apple implemented this feature in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. so, it is expected the 13 series is expected to come with the same technology.
It is also rumored that the entire iPhone 13 series will have large batteries. The iPhone 1 Mini, the smallest phone will feature a 2,406mAh battery rather than 2,227mAh. Similarly the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will feature a 3,095mAh battery rather than 2,815mAh. The largest iPhone will feature a 4,352mAh battery instead of a 3,687mAh.
Apple’s new iPhone lineup will be disclosed in the fall of 2021, with the company aiming to its traditional September launch. Though Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup couldn’t launch in September due to the production delays caused by the pandemic, iPhone 3 models will not face the same production delays.
