LJP faction war has taken a new turn: sexual assault complaint against Chirag Paswan’s cousin
LJP faction war between Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pahupati Paras has took a different turn when a sexual assault case against Paswan’s cousin and Prince Raj Paswan was revealed.
A woman has filed a complaint at Connaught Place police station against Prince Paswan for sedating her drink at a hotel in Delhi and allegedly sexually assaulted her. Police have said that the complaint has been received but no FIR has been lodged as of now, however, the complaint is being verified. When Chirag Paswan was questioned about the allegations of sexual abuse against his cousin, he said that he has advised both of them to approach the police.
The LJP was facing different issues after the demise of Ram Vilas Paswan, looked headed for an downfall after Pashupati Paras and some rebel MLAs expelled Chirag Paswan as the leader of the party in Lok Sabha.
After an emergency meeting of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) national working committee Paswan is removed from the post of the LJP national president. He tweeted, that he had made efforts to keep the party founded by his father Ram Vilas Paswan and his family together but failed. He also mentioned that people are supreme in a democracy and thanked those who believe in the party.
Paswan also shared a letter he had written to his father’s youngest brother Paras in March and he highlighted his uncle’s unhappiness over several uses.
Alleging that JD(U) was behind the breach, Paswan said, “JDU as a party has always tried to divide other parties that come up to give them a fight. We are devising a legal way to respond to everything that has happened in the past few days. JDU is solely responsible for the current situation.”
Paras too hit back at Paswan and said, “You must ask Chirag Paswan why he removed me from the state president’s post. He did it even when he doesn’t hold power. We contested Bihar elections under my supervision and all 6 MPs won. We received the highest percentage of vote as per election commission’s report."
Both factions of the LJP have so far pledged allegiance to the NDA. However, the saffron party and the JD(U) of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has denounced Chirag’s supporter on the issue. State BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal dismissed the chaos within the LJP as an “internal matter” of the party.
